Kristina Beitey - CEO
I am the Director and owner of The Whole Child Learning Company. We have been established since 1997 and have adapted to the needs in education from year to year. I graduated with my degree in Liberal Studies from PLNU, with some master’s work in Special Education. When I graduated from college, it was during the recession in 2008, and there were no teaching jobs. Thankfully, that brought me into the realm of teaching Spanish and Yoga enrichment classes, and now I would not have it any other way! We get the privilege of teaching the fun stuff in an engaging way which I believe sparks learning and creativity. I am passionate about the subject matter that is often cut due to budget and time restraints and feel a wealth of gratitude that I get to bring that back to schools. In my spare time, I love to look at vacation spots for a great deal, lay and swim by the pool, watch improv comedy shows, and do Yoga.
Richard Beitey - President
I’ve been teaching kids and working in the education field for over 15 years as a Tutor, Camp Counselor, Student Services Director, Preschool and Kindergarten Teacher, and now run The Whole Child Learning Company with my wife. My degree is in Marketing and I’ve learned valuable business skills while working at a law firm and operating multiple technology companies.
Since joining The Whole Child Learning Company I’ve taught thousands of STEAM classes to PreK-5th grade students. During that time I’ve discovered that students thrive when learning in small group settings and getting hands-on with materials while working cooperatively with their peers. Students should be given clear instructions on the problem they should be solving and expectations about appropriate behavior during the process. Once they understand those constraints, give them as much freedom and autonomy possible! Students learn best by doing, not listening.
When I’m not operating Whole Child or teaching STEAM lessons I love to ride my cruiser board, do stand-up comedy, read and write, and travel with my family.
